NKU went into this match against the league leaders with a depleted squad but certainly made a fight of it. The final scoreline flattered a good Uni side as NKU did play some nice football in spells plus as usual the home side seem to get the better of any 50/50 decisions.
NKU had a couple of great chance but both Finlay and Donohoe where unlucky with there efforts. Strathclyde took the lead just at the end of the 1st half when a poor kick by Smith allowed the SU forward to pounce and slot home. The 2nd half was a more exciting affair but once again NKU contributed to there own downfall when another bad kick from Smith fell straight to the SU who lobbed home.
The 3rd followed shortly but as mentioned above NKU should great character by playing some lovely passing moves and eventually got there reward when Stafford cross was put into their own net by the SU centre half. SU completed the scoring late on with a fine run and finish from the speedy winger.
On another day NKU would have got something out of the game with this really positive performance. Also a mention must go out to Wee Scottie & Umar for helping us out in our hour of need.
