GDSML League
North Kelvin United 2 - 0 Bellahouston AFC
John Paul Academy
10.00 KO
NKU went into the game full of confidence and looked to continue there recent unbeaten run. The visitors started the game strongly but the NKU defence denied them any clear cut chances.
After 15 minutes NKU started to get to grips in the vital midfield area with the impressive Stevenson starting to get on the ball. Although NK had more possession the first half past with no clear cut chances.
The 2nd half started like the 1st ended with NKU having more of the ball, Kay was then put through with only the keeper to beat but fired straight at the keeper. The game then erupted when Kay was brought down and then stamped on by the Bella centre half and after the referee had sorted out the melee that followed the fired up Kay blasted home the resulting free kick.
From the restart Bella pressed for an equaliser but NKU back four held firm. With ten minutes to go Bella almost equalised but the striker fired well over and almost immediately NKU wrapped up the points when a great ball from Kay to midfielder Kelly who the calmly beat the Bella keeper.
A great team performance by NKU but Manager Burns will especially pleased by the defensive performance of the back four where Spence and Brophy were both superb. Also a special mention to morning team debutant Eden who was drafted in from T2 at short notice and produced a solid display at right back.
