Need accessible advice and guidance on training, safe recruitment of volunteers and child protection?
The Safeguarding in Sport Service, a partnership between CHILDREN 1ST and sportscotland can help. Safeguarding in Sport has been offering advice, guidance and consultancy on issues relating to child protection and child welfare within a sporting context for the past 9 years.
During that time the service has developed a number of resources for clubs, Governing Bodies and Local Authorities, produce a quarterly e-newsletter, provide and maintain a website and offer advice and guidance on the phone and via email.
The Safeguarding in Sport Service can give advice and guidance on a range of issues affecting young people and volunteers in sport, including the safe recruitment and selection of volunteers and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups legislation and help when you suspect a young person is being abused either in your club or at home. The Service can also call on a panel of individuals with specific expertise in addition to the advice service already provided by the Safeguarding in Sport team.
It is important to stress that The Safeguarding in Sport team cannot make decisions for organisations and can only offer advice and recommendations. The advice and recommendations offered is exactly that, advice and recommendations and it remains the responsibility of the organisation to make any final decisions relating to the advice given.
