- PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE
Please find attached the Pre
Season Training Schedule for the coming season. You (hopefully) will notice
straight away that after 10 years as Crosslands AFC we have decided to change
our team name to North Kelvin United to bring us into line with our youth
and children’s teams.
In season 2009-2010 we will be operating two Saturday afternoon teams in addition to retaining our GDSML morning team. The new second team will play in the Paisley & District League and first team will continue to play in the GGP Saturday Afternoon League. We hope that by operating this extra team younger and more inexperienced players will have more opportunities to play and develop their abilities.
We will continue to train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the season. Tuesday night training will be at North Kelvinside Pitches and Thursday night training will be at the brand new Milton Campus 3g Pitch. Attendance at training, together with match performance and attitude will continue to be the main criteria for team selection.
Please note that the pre season training venue is different from the normal training venues, as the majority of pre season will take place at Ruchill Park. (Please remember that the schedule may be subject to change).
If you need any further information please don’t hesitate to contact myself (marksadams11@gmail.com / 07779 117 223), or new 2nd Team Manager, Simon Davidson (simondavidson14@hotmail.com / 07946 884 117).
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday the 16th at 06.00pm.
Should you require help with transport please let me know well in advance
in order that arrangements can be made.

- Sunday Coaching
As
you know our Sunday coaching sessions at North Kelvinside pitches are designed
to give younger children the opportunity to play football and improve their
skills under the supervision of Head Sunday Coach Scott McKinnon and his squad
of SFA qualified coaches.
Our intention is always to try and provide the best facilities available. The upgrade of the NK pitches will not now happen until next year, so we have decided that this situation together with the deterioration of the weather means that we should host Sunday Coaching indoors during the winter months.
We will be commencing training in John Paul Academy Sports Centre on Sunday 7th December and thereafter on the dates shown below. We will be hosting Sunday Coaching from 11am - 1pm indoors in the Games Hall of the Sports Centre. The cost remains 50p per child. There is a car park right outside and the venue can be reached easily on the number 18 and 61 buses.
If you have any questions about this please contact Scott on 07852 915 959 or email info@ngfdg.co.uk. A map of the venue can be found on our website at http://www.ngfdg.co.uk/John%20Paul%20Academy%20map.jpg. The venue's address is John Paul Academy, 2 Arrochar Street, Summerston, Glasgow, G23 5LY.
The dates
are; -
December 7th & 14th
Xmas Break then returning on
January 11th, 18th & 25th
February 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd.

The NKU teams struggled to complete fixtures this weekend due to the terrible weather. In the end the 99s and the 2000s were the only teams to play games.
The 2000's lost 2 games before winning 2-0 in their 3 games. Well done to Louis Webster who scored his second hat trick! The 99s had an excellent 3-1 win and a 2-2 draw with Regan, Jason and Sean amongst the goals. Well done lads!
The 1998s are now ready to enter the league and played a friendly game with the 99s in midweek. We are still looking for 1 or 2 players though so if you are interested email info@ngfdg.co.uk.
22/09/08
The NKU teams continued their season's campaign on Saturday with a total of 6 games. The 2000's won 3-0, 6-2 and lost 2-1 in their 3 games. Well done to Louis Webster who scored a hat trick!
The 1999s won 5-1 against Milngavie before suffering a defeat against Celtic as the boys continue to improve under the hard tutelage of coaches Sat and Donny.
The 1997's won their first game of the season after losing their last 2 games by only one goal. They played very well to beat Westerton 4-1 with 2 goals from Gordon and 1 each from Jamie and Scott. Well done to Pauline & Bobby and the players!
10/09/08
Players from NKU 1997s team together with coaches Carl, Danya and Paul took part last weekend in the annual Great Scottish Run 3km race in order to raise club funds. Gordon was the first finisher for the 1997's and a special mention must go to Carl for finishing 22nd overall in his first race, a tremendous effort! The photos will be uploaded to the NKU section shortly.
The NKU 2000s, 1999s and 1997s have all begun their league campaigns this season, however the 1998s are still short of 2 players to complete their squad. So if you know anyone born in 1998 who would like to play for our football team please email info@ngfdg.co.uk.

North Glasgow 5k Fun Run (EVENT REVIEW)
Click

NGFDG coaches attended the NG5k 2008 event which, in its 3rd year, proved
a huge success attracting an estimated 2500 participants. NGFDG provided a
'Beat the Goalie' competition which was extremely popular with the kids (and
big kids!). We also had a stall to distribute flyers and newsletter showcasing
what we offer the local community. After approaching many of the event attendees
we were encouraged by the response we received and hope to strengthen our
kids' teams as well as our ladies team. Thanks to everyone who made the day
very successful and we look forward to working with you in the future.

North Glasgow 5k Fun Run
NG5k
is all about promoting physical activity and a healthier lifestyle for residents
living and working in North Glasgow as well as offering a great fun day out.
What makes the NG5k unique is that it is one of only a few running events
in Glasgow that is truly open to all where people of all ages and all levels
of fitness or ability can take part.
NGFDG coaches will be representing our club with the aim of showcasing what
we provide for the community and deliver information to interested parties.
Nearly
2000 fun runners took to the streets of North Glasgow last April in what turned
out to be the biggest NG5k yet! Friends, families, neighbours & work colleagues
came together on the day to cheer each other on with much laughter along the
way. Back for its third year, ng5k returns for 2008 and promises to be bigger
than ever!
We
hope to see you there

We had a fantastic response from the attendees and event organisers and look
forward to working with them in the future

Launch
0f 1998 Age Group Team
Following the success and development of The NGFDG and the setting up of the
two football teams for children to play in Strathclyde Youth Club Association
on a Sunday mornings at the 1996 and 1997 age groups we have decided to start
a team for children in the 1998 age group.
The League fixtures will commence in January 2007. Further information will be provided nearer the time.
Games will be played on a Sunday morning commencing at 10 a.m. and finishing at 12 noon. They will be played at Springburn Park.
On match days we would arrange to meet the children at North Kelvinside Pitches at 9 o’clock or at Springburn Park at 9.15.
On match days and at training sessions children should wear the NGFDG training top and t-shirt provided. Children should bring their football boots or trainers to assist them in their games.
If your child does not have a t-shirt or drill top they will soon be available at a cost of £2 for T-Shirts and £5 for Drill Tops. (This represents a subsidy of approximately 50% of cost).
Children involved in these 1998 age group matches will train on a Wednesday evening from January 2007 with venue and time to be confirmed. In the meantime it is strongly recommended that if your child wishes to be considered for the team that they should attend Sunday morning training sessions at NK pitches between 11am and 12.30.
