NORTH GLASGOW FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT GROUP HOSTS MINI TOURNAMENT WITH SENSE OVER SECTARIANISM

As part of our exciting partnership the North Glasgow Football Development Group and the Sense Over Sectarianism organisation, which is managed within Glasgow City Council and funded by the Scottish Executive, will host their first Mini Tournament this weekend promoting fitness and education among young people from all over Glasgow.

The tournament is being hosted at North Kelvinside pitches in North West Glasgow on Sunday 13th August with a start time of 12 Noon. Teams from all over Glasgow will take part at Under 10 and Under 11 age group with prizes for Fair Play and Sporting Behaviour being rewarded along with the tournament winners.

The funding package from “SOS” secured the future of the NGFDG over a 12 month period has allowed the expansion of activities to include the setting up of teams, new and improved training and playing equipment and increased coaching time so more children have become involved.

The NGFDG was established in May 2005 by members of Crosslands AFC who identified the lack of opportunities, facilities and infrastructure in the north of Glasgow for young children (boys and girls) who are interested in football and wanted to address this. The group has also been involved in the high profile “Save the NK Pitches” campaign.
The Sense Over Sectarianism organisation is a partnership between Glasgow City Council, Nil By Mouth, the churches and Rangers and Celtic.
The NGFDG host weekly coaching sessions every Sunday Morning at 11 am until 12.30 pm from the 20th August at the North Kelvinside Pitches on Queen Margaret Drive. All children of primary School age are welcome to come along. All the children need to bring along with them is suitable clothing and footwear and 50p.
